Education and Training
Dr. Jain George graduated from Government Medical College Trichur, Kerala, India in 1991 and did his Masters in General Surgery (M.S.) from Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. His Neurosurgery training started while at BHU where he did dissertation in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and electives in Neurosurgery.
After passing M.S. General Surgery Examinations in 1995, he joined All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS, New Delhi) as Senior Resident in Neurosurgery. After a year he left AIIMS and joined at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Trivandrum, India and completed Masters in Neurosurgery (M.Ch.) in the year 1999. He had training in Neuro trauma from NIMHANS Bangalore. After passing United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE) and ECFMG certification, Dr. Jain George went to United States to do a Clinical Fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery from Children’s Hospital Michigan in the year 2000-2001. During this fellowship he had advanced hands on clinical training in the management of hydrocephalus, exposure to various shunt systems and its evaluation, pediatric brain tumors, neuro-navigation systems, surgical management of various congenital anomalies of the brain and spine. He used to work part time at Harper University Hospital to get advanced training in Spine Surgery and Skull Base Surgery as well. To gain additional experience and master the perfect techniques of brain tumor surgery, he joined for a Clinical Fellowship in Neurosurgical Oncology at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, affiliated to University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida. In 2012, Dr. George has done a visiting fellowship in Neurosurgery from Fujita Health University, Japan focusing on Vascular Neurosurgery and Endoscopic and Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery. Dr. Jain George also holds an MBA Degree awarded by University of Wales, Cardiff, UK. His dissertation was on Financial Implications of Hospital Accreditation.
Dr. Jain George has been involved in Neurosurgical patient care at various capacities since 1992. He worked three years as Lecturer and Consultant Neurosurgeon at University Sains Malaysia, where he was teaching postgraduate students, performed hundreds of complex neurosurgical procedures, and started epilepsy surgery program as well. During his clinical fellowship training program in the United States, he has performed hundreds of brain and spine surgeries using the latest equipment and systems. In 2006, he joined at Armed Forces Hospital Southern Region in Saudi Arabia as Consultant Neurosurgeon and was Chief of Neurosurgery for three years there. He has also worked at Royal Commission Hospital in Saudi Arabia and Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha, Qatar.
His areas of interest include removing brain tumors with no complications adopting the most minimally invasive and keyhole concepts, Cerebrovascular Surgery (Aneurysm and AVM), Pediatric Neurosurgery, Spinal Tumors, Microdiscectomy and Endoscopic Neurosurgery.
