Endovascular Neurosurgery or Interventional Neuro Radiology is a subspecialty of Radiology and Neurosurgery in which minimally invasive procedures are performed using image guidance. Some of these procedures are done for purely diagnostic purposes such as Cerebral Angiograms, while others are done for treatment purposes, such as Cerebral Coilings or Embolizations. X-rays are used to direct these procedures, which are performed using thin tubes called catheters. The catheters are introduced into the vascular system either through the groin, the arm, or sometimes the neck.

Interventional Neuroradiology is a ground-breaking technology for patient management in many neurovascular diseases currently. This minimally-invasive, advanced technique has several benefits over conventional surgeries like non-opening of the skull vault, less procedure time, less anaesthesia time, less ICU stay, less hospital stay, early mobilization, faster recovery, early rehabilitation, and early resumption of the quotidian life.

Consultant Interventional Neuro-Radiologist

neuro-rehab-services-kerala Qualifications :

Dr. Roopa Seshadri is specialized in Endovascular Neurointerventions, Neuroimaging and Peripheral Endovascular Interventions. She completed her masters in Radiology from the prestigious St. John’s Medical College and Research Institute, Bangalore where she stood 2nd in the state in the final examination. She then did her D.M degree super specialisation from the premier National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Neuroimaging and Endovascular Neurointerventions.
Dr. Roopa further polished her skills in minimally invasive endovascular techniques (in both neuro and peripheral fields) in Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai. She is well experienced in endovascular treatment of aneurysms, AVMs, mechanical thrombectomies for stroke and carotid stenting procedures. She is also experienced in endovascular procedures for the aorta, visceral arteries and limb arteries.
She is currently working as Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Neuroimageology and Interventional Neuroradiology.

Consultant Interventional Neuro-Radiologist

This rapidly developing subspecialty is available at IAH, and has rendered possible the treatment of vascular malformations as aneurysms with a degree of precision security and success rate that was previously unthinkable. The following procedures are available at IAH done under the supervision of highly qualified and experienced Endovascular Neuro Radiologists who are specially trained in this speciality.

Diagnostic cerebral / spinal angiogram (DSA)

Endovascular treatment of aneurysms using minimally invasive technique of accessing the aneurysm from within the bloodstream, specifically during angiography with a high success rate.

Other cerebral, head and neck vascular malformations:

Other vascular and related diseases are treated endovascularly. Certain facial Lymphangiomas and Hemangiomas are treated by direct puncturing and injecting Sclerosant agents under flouroscopic guidance, hence avoiding major surgeries.
